frequently asked questions
What size flag do I need?
The ideal flag size for you will depend on how and where you plan to fly your flag.
Our most popular size, 3x5 ft., works for most occasions:
- Home use.
- Wall, garage, dorm, etc. decor.
- Indoor displays.
- Parades, protests, & demonstrations.
- And so much more!
For in-ground flagpoles, we recommend selecting a flag size based on the height of pole.
- 15-20 ft: 3x5 ft.
- 25 ft.: 4x6 ft.
- 30 ft. 5x8 ft.
- 35 ft: 6x10 ft.
- 40-45 ft: 8x12 ft.
- 50 ft: 10x15 ft.
- 60 ft: 12x18 ft.
- 70 ft: 15x25 ft.
- 80 ft: 20x30 ft.
What style of flag do I need?
Flags have 3 standard finishes:
- Heading & Grommets
- Polesleeve
- Polesleeve with Fringe
The style of flag you choose will depend on how and where you plan to fly or display your flag.
HEADING & GROMMETS: The default flag finish is with a strong, white canvas header and 2 brass grommets on either end. This is the most common and versatile flag finish.
USE: Everyday, outdoor use. Great for decoration on in garage, dorms, or basements.
POLESLEEVE: The polesleeve is sewn onto the hoist side of the flag in lieu of the heading and grommets. The sleeve slides over the flagpole and has velcro or leather tabs at the top to hook onto the pole.
USE: Indoor displays and parades.
POLESLEEVE & FRINGE: To create a ceremonial or more formal look, these flags can also have golden-yellow fringe sewn around the perimeter of the flag in addition to the polesleeve. The fringed flags are not recommended for everyday, outdoor use.
USE: Ceremonies, parades, honor guard, and/or more formal indoor displays.
How long will my flag last?
The longevity of your flag will depend on how and where you fly or display your flag.
Our flags are made with All-Weather Nylon. This is an American-Made, 200 Denier, Fast-Drying, Solar-Resistant material that is built to last, resistant to fading, and flies in the lightest breeze. All seams are double-stitchend and the fly end of our flags have 4 rows of stitches for added durability.
Prolonged, direct sunlight and engine exhaust speed up the fading and fraying process of both printed and sewn flags.
Flags flown coastal or mountainous areas tend to fray faster. Flags flown near highways, along congested city streets, or flown within wind tunnels between homes and buildings will also tend to wear faster. In these instances, we recommend the High-Wind Polyester American Flag.
To increase the longevity of your flag, we recommend bringing it in during strong storms, hurricanes, Nor’Easters, blizzards, etc.
