Top 5 Tips to Extend the Life of Your Flag
Extend the life of your flag.
I think we can all agree that Americans LOVE their flag! It’s hard to miss a beautiful, proudly displayed American flag gently flapping in the wind.
And it hurts a little when we see a sad, worn flag hanging or mercilessly wrapped around a pole. If you’re here, I know you’re not that guy!
Before I get into the flag-saving nitty gritty, I need to remind you that Mother Nature ALWAYS wins. However, the good news is there are a few things you can do to extend the life of your flag.
- Pick a good spot - Give your flag plenty of space to fly! Avoid trees, bushes, gutters, powerlines and anything else that might catch or fray your flag.
- Select the right fabric - Most of our flags are made of high quality nylon which is durable, lightweight and flies in a gentle breeze. If you live in the mountains or by the beach or any body of water, opt for High Wind Polyester fabric whenever possible.
- Accessorize - Prevent your flag from wrapping around the pole with a non-tangle rod or aluminum spinning flagpole. The non-tangle rods are recommended for commercial use and are great for windy pockets of the city.
- Bring it in - If inclement weather is coming your way, bring your flag in! Especially when a Nor’easter, blizzard or hurricane is approaching.
- Swap it out - Your flag will last longer if you give it a break. Switch it up and display a flag to celebrate a holiday, sport team, college or university, season or honor a visitor from out of state or overseas!
Following these easy tips will GREATLY extend the life of your flag.
